If you are wondering what we do in the Medicine Wheel Circles, here is a brief summary or at least a basic foundation...
We lay down a Medicine wheel of 36 stones and may light candles, depending on many different factors. We sometimes do a smudging ceremony over the wheel and ourselves, with sacred herbs. We drum to call in the Spirits, connect to the heartbeat of Mother Earth and to harmonize our heartbeats.
I give some teachings about the Wheel related to the Natural and Cosmological Influences (Winds and Moons) that we are under. I may pass a talking stick. People share what they are living and ask questions. I often respond by connecting their stories to the Traditional Teachings and the stones on the Wheel.
We may offer different perspectives on a story shared if the person wants input or feedback. Each Wheel is different. Besides the Natural and Cosmological Forces, it also depends on the location, the land and the people at the circle. All of these combine to add a unique flavour and texture to the each Wheel. We may do art, crafts, rituals, dreaming, drumming, power hunts or anything else that I am called to do.
Grandmother Lodges are around the Full Moon. We learn about the 13 Moons/Grandmothers, explore our 13 Inner Children, and emotional issues for healing, growth and learning. The Lodges follow the Feminine, but are open to both men and women.
Medicine Wheel Circles near to the New Moon are for Traditional teachings, self-exploration, growth, learning and connecting to the 8 Winds / Roles on the Medicine Wheel. This is the Masculine part of the Wheel and looks at life's challenges. This is also for both men and women.
An average Circle is about 8-12 people.
Day-long or weekend Workshops can hold up to 30.
Teaching conferences are unlimited in number, depending....
The exchange for a circle is $20-$30. First-timers can give a donation of their own choosing.
I prefer a weeks notice for registration so I can properly prepare.
Registration is by email.
If you have a drum or rattle, please bring it. If not, I do have some that you can use.
We each bring a small snack to share with the group.
The circles are usually 3-4 hours long with a snack break in the middle or at the end.
Weather and location permitting in summer, I prefer to do circles outside. That way we can connect to Nature and it is more magical. The Wheel will attract natural phenomena.
Sometimes pets are allowed at Circles but I must be informed beforehand.
And if you have food or pet allergies, please let me know.
There is lots more of course. It is not something I can explain in detail as it is more about being in the experience, not a mental thing. You will explore yourself from a Traditional Shamanic Perspective, discover your Spirit Clan and Roles or Totems - your Medicine. You may be encouraged or initiated to grow beyond your perceived limitations, to think outside the box you are in or let go of illusions.
This is not a Western self-help support group. I am a Teacher of a Traditional Medicine Wheel, not a therapist or counsellor. We are not "politically correct" by any means. If you are looking for a different perspective, a different way of doing things, this is for you.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
