There is a Tarot Card called the 6 of SWORDS. It depicts a family on a boat coming out of a fog and rough waters... heading towards land. They look like Royalty but for some reason they were lost in a storm. The Woman looks cold and distraught. The child clings to her Mother whilst looking with hope to the Father. There is a sense of them being exhausted, as if they have been through a long hard journey. The man still stands yet cannot see that land is in sight as he looks downwards. The 6 Swords weigh the boat down, taking up a good portion of the space. It is a gloomy card, but not without hope.
The hard times are behind them and the water ahead is smooth. It will take just a few more strokes to get them to land.
In life, we often encounter this scenario... when we are tired, exhausted and feeling like the hardships will never end. But we can't see what it up ahead, we can only keep on going, trusting in the journey that takes us home.
Cosmology and Nature has been giving us a rough ride lately. It seems that Spring will never come. It is still snowing like crazy out West and here in Ontario, we are just coming out of the worst kind of weather with cold winds and freezing rain.
When life gets hard we can give up or we can get stronger, more determined and have faith in the outcome. We can fall into despair and hopelessness or just keep going, seeking solutions, seeking answers to our questions, seeking support and direction and finding hope, courage, love and strength.
These are the times where we are tested, to see if we can handle the challenges life brings us. Don't give up, keep going, you will get there. Seek help, connect with others, share your story and find common ground. In numbers there is strength. Help those who are down, and know that when you are down, others will be there to help you. But you have to reach out to grab the hand being offered.
